The Center for Kern Political Education (“Center” or “CKPE”), a Bakersfield College Foundation, provides students with opportunities to learn about and participate in classroom activities, meetings with elected and government officials, trips, instructional projects and other related activities.
The CKPE provides students with the resources necessary to develop and hone leadership qualities required to mobilize and organize communities. The Center is meant as a laboratory to test ideas. It provides students with direct experience in pursuing their interests in politics.
The Center is committed to harnessing students’ desire for change while providing them with an outlet to achieve their goals. The Center is also committed to attracting a diverse membership in order to broaden the insights and opportunities available to students. The Center provides students with an environment that fosters diverse exchange of thought to help its members grow with and learn from one another.
