Self Introduction Speech

Time: 1:00- 1:30

Purpose: To ?break the ice? of the speaking situation by introducing yourself and your future goals/aspirations/career choices/ etc.

Requirements:

I. Tell us your background including the basic facts of your life, family, where       

   you lived, where you work, etc.

II. Tell us why you want to be a teacher/learn to sail/join the Marines/etc 

You may only use an outline, NOT a manuscript or an essay. I want you to speak to all of us and communicate with us and not to a piece of paper.

You may use a visual aid but it is not required.

Sample Outline

I. I have lived in Bakersfield all my life with my family.

            A. I have two brothers

                        1. Jim is three years older

                        2. Bill is the baby.

            B. I am now married

                        1. 17 years

                        2. three children

II. I want to be a teacher because I enjoy children and the vacation time.

            A. I enjoy working with 8-10 year olds.

                        1. teaching literature.

                        2. teaching math.

                        3. teaching poetry.

            B. I love the vacation time because I am home when my children are home.
